Blink is a journalist's report on current knowledge and research into certain aspects of human cognitive processes - those we might call 'snap judgments'. Some might consider that this book suffers from the fact that it was written by a journalist, rather than a researcher within the field; it lacks, for instance, a sense of that truly deep knowledge of past research shown by many of the very best researchers. I agree, and have deducted a star accordingly. On the other hand, the author has brought together many different fields of research - including neurology, psychology and sociology, to mention but a few - and stitched them together in a way that is informative, thought-provoking and entertaining. And for this, top marks!
