Some high points but a tad forgettable

This is rather patchy with good elements and some mediocre ones. Compared to the plethora of excellent thrillers, this is a respectable ‘B’ novel. It’s about beautiful detective Bella and her new hot partner Mack who investigate a series of brutal murders while impressing all the suspects with their hot bodies.
The story is set in the shallow world of the competitive rich who desperately need their children to get into elite colleges. The portraits of ‘mean girl’ rich mothers are entertaining and horrible.
Less fun is the failure of the protagonists to evolve, a facile ending and baddies who are too evil to be believable. I didn’t mind reading this book, but I’m not interested enough to buy the next book in the series.
