Not groundbreaking, but a really nice light read

I really enjoyed To All the Boys I've Loved Before. It was nice little light read.
To All the Boys main storyline focuses on her romantic relationships, but the real core of the story, the real heart is in her relationship with her sisters. There are a lot of chapters dedicated to their relationship and how their relationships change, as they change. When I finished this book, I kind felt like not a lot had happening, that it was all highschool drama, but when I stepped back and thought about it, I realised this book has a lot of heart, and it comes from those family relationships, not the romantic ones
I did also notice though, that there were a lot of cliche characters. Now I'm not really one to turn my nose up at a few cliches. Cliches have become what they are for a reason. But I do find them a bit harder to connect with on the page. There's not as much that special about them. Lara Jean is the 'not-pretty but actually pretty' awkward teenager, the main man is the best looking guy in school, and is jock (but he's SO much MORE than that), he has a crazy ex girlfriend who's the prettiest girl in school..... you get my point.
All in all, while I found some parts a bit slow and it's not going on my 'top books of all time' list, this was a really nice light read.
