After reading quite a few of these memiors by German soldiers of WW2, I wasn't expecting much from this. I was wrong and quite enjoyed this. He recounts his service in the LAH and gives a good insight to the mindset that these young guys had about life in Germany and their attitude to serving in the Waffen SS. My dad served in Russia '41 to '44 and used to tell me very similar stories with the same sort of attitudes to life, combat etc. For me, it was a great read. This particular guy should be proud of his service. Five stars, despite the occasional typo.
