Good story that has so much more room to explore.

Entertaining Cinderfella story. A bit too short though. The characters did change and grow which is nice. Mike started off as an obnoxious sook and by the time it ended I was really hoping for his happy ending. James' character annoyed me to start with. I got the whole love/hate thing and the fact Mike had made his life hell as a teenager, but having been in a similar situation the last thing I'd do is start throwing money around to see my bully play with himself minutes after meeting them again.
The story had a sort of Pretty Woman vibe and it had a lot of room to explore the emerging relationship between the two men, but it seemed once the author got to the sex scene they ran out of ideas. The growing relationship in the story is a real hook, and it was as the relationship grew that my interest in two practically unlikable characters grew. I wanted to see them both working for the relationship they both seemed to want so much. There's so some emotional baggage between the two characters this could easily have been a full length novel that really held a readers attention.
I would definitely recommend the book to other fans of MM romance stories. While it was ultimately a satisfying read I felt the story left so much space to explore and would have liked to have had more time with both characters as they developed and grew to trust each other. The trust and comittment seemed to come to easily and given their backgrounds and their history together there was so much more rich territory that could have been explored.
All in all though it was a good story, well edited and constructed.
