Wow... This is such a fresh and exciting author! I just loved this engrossing world that she's made... The story moves along at a cracking pace, and the characters are real, and engrossing! After being buried under a mountain for 300 years our heroine Sardelle suddenly awakes to find herself the last of her people... And she has what could be one of the last of the soul blades as well! And not only that anyone who might be accused of being magical is killed off! Ridge sees hers right away, and they seam to hit it off right from the beginning, a nice romance is looking to have started in this book! I've been left hungry for more...
Balanced on the Blade's Edge is a excellent blend of magical fantasy and steampunk. The book is well written, with little or no grammatical errors or typos. I really felt drawn in to this new and exciting world. The characters were all well fleshed out - I absolutely adored sassy Jaxi, empathised with gentle and strong Sardelle, and fell in love with Ridge! There is enough action and romance, all tempered with humour, to keep the reader entertained. While it can be read as a stand alone book, I am looking forward to reading the whole 7 books in the series!
I put off buying this book for some reason, but finally I sucumbed and I'm so glad I did. What a hoot. I enjoyed if from front to back. It was extremely well written and edited. The strong characters and humour had me spellbound.
I think I have found a new favourite author! Always unsure what you will find when reading a new author - especially when the book is so cheap! But I couldn't put it down, finished in 3 days and can't praise it enough. So easy to read, quick, it doesn't longer or dwell on events for too long. The characters are well developed and easy to relate to. Look forward to reading more of Lindsay's work she's clearly very skilled and highly addicting!
