Once She gets a spine it's quite fabulous...

It's very British in it's writing, So there is a great deal of psycho analysis.
I've read all of Frankie McGowan's books and am never disappointed. 'A Kept Woman' was a good read - I immediately warmed to Serena, the main character. The author has a way of making all her characters very real, and Serena is particularly interesting because her life changes so drastically throughout the course of the book, and she surprises us with how she picks herself up and copes with a great deal. Thank God Ed came along an actual interesting character with a great deal of spunk - he makes the book and her in my opinion. It gets really interesting in the last quarter of the book when she grows a spine and works things out for herself. A Kept Woman' is inspiring, thought-provoking and humorous - Not a quick or easy read ... But enjoyable.
