Well this is the best book in the series to date. I love reading authors from the first book and reading each book in order. You notice the authors craft improving with every book. This book was terrific, a number of plots and sub plots that kept me involved. A delicious mixture of mystery, murder and mysticism all coexisting. Elle Griffiths wrote some red herrings very cleverly into the story that had me certain I had solved the mystery and of course I was completely wrong which is why so many of us love this genre. To be so sure and then to be totally surprised. It’s a delight.
This was a most satisfying read. The world of Ruth, Nelson and Cathbad is rich with detail. Norwich is a wonderful archaeological backdrop to a compelling mystery. But as a reader, I was just as interested in the relationships of modern Norwich as I was in discovering who dunnit. And that is what made this novel such a winner for me. The books are getting better and better as the relationships become more complex. I can't wait for the next one!
This is one of a series that is absolutely gripping. A mystery and murder tale with the addition of forensic archaeological evidence. Also has a thread from the previous book, following the lives of the characters.
Another superb book in the Ruth Galloway series. They just get better and better. The alternating from past stories to present is absolutely absorbing and interesting and the characterization is nothing short of brilliant. The wait for this one in the series seemed interminable - please, please let there be another! A totally wonderful author.
