Spenser is hired by a tough, spunky little journalist going by the name of Candy Sloan in order to protect her against unwanted attention in LA as she investigates issues of corruption within the television and movie industry.
Proof they do find of said corruption and as sure as winter follows Fall, the expected trouble does not fail to materialise. Early on in the book, Ms Sloan is abducted and left for dead on the side of a major highway. The reader is shocked by this event and no doubt it was included in the story for emotional adhesiveness and it sure as heck worked.
This is one entertaining mystery novel. Surprises in the plot occur aplenty both as part of the main story as well as running adjacent to it. Not only is this book original, but it is entertaining and takes the reader on a highly emotional journey. Another sure winner from the amazing library of Robert B Parker.
