Just don't...light tackle fisherman 30+ Yrs. Just not worth using...I really wanted this to work out. But the fact is it was repeatedly line snapping ...lost tackle...its inability to hold up to any kind of abrasion, color fade, staining your hands , always wind knots and most telling. Constant Bimini knot failures... 1 or 2....maybe 5 a season with power pro. This stuff 3-5 a trip... Unspooled 4 reels varying Pound test. All sucked. Used it for backing on guest rods. Abysmal. Maybe I'm just unlucky the three spools of varying colors and sizes are just junk. Do yourself a favor just buy the power pro or spyderwire. Really. Not a fish tale. Real world experience
This line is nice but, the braid is very rough, noisy and not as soft, supple as the j8 made by Daiwa. You guys at KastKing have not swayed me yet. Come up with a price competitive line that performs as well as j8 and then market your product as great. Until then, I will continue to pay 30% extra for the comfort, feel, durability, strength, and quality of Daiwa J8 line. Also noticed that when using a scissor made for braid, the KastKing cuts with effort vs other PE lines. Unless you pull tight and cut swiftly, it frays. most of the other line manufactures don have that issue when cutting a tag end off of a knot. This one does. No big deal since 8 strand is what I prefer. I am waiting for that free spool of KK braid for providing honest feedback for their perigee II rod. I will evaluate it with open mind and 62 years of proven experience.
This line is practically invisible and has excellent strength, also I have not had any issue with line memory as of yet and doubt if it will ever be a problem since it it braided line. The line is so small in dia for the strength it eliminates problems caused by line shadow in clear trout streams. Just bought a new Shimano spinning reel and threaded it with Superpower 6 lb today. Now I have three.....on my way to Colorado next week.
8/13/19 After arriving at my favorite Colorado fishing hole and using KastKing Superpower Braided Fishing Line I will be changing back to Spider Wire today. I have never had problems with backlash on my spinning reels, this line tangles, backlashes over and over on both reels, one new and one my longtime favorite. Not sure why it does this but I have been spinner fishing and fly fishing for years so I'm pretty sure it's not my technique. Either way I'm done with it.
I put kastking 10lb braid on three of my inshore reels. At first, I was very happy with the line. It casted well, few wind knots, seemed to be holding up fine, and felt just as good as name brand braid on my other reels: mostly Suffix and Power Pro. However unfortunately after 5-6 months on the reels wind knots started happening much more--probably 10 times more than rods spooled with name brand braid. I also started having breaks near my leaders in the braid After looking closer at the last 5 feet or so of braid it starts to abrade and quickly goes downhill once it starts to happen. I suppose if you want to change your braid out every six months you won't mind this stuff too much, but if you don't want to do that (and why would you) go with name brand braid.
I was very excited about this product after reading many reviews. I have been using Spiderwire Ultra Cast but figured I would try this due to the reviews and pricing. 1- As I was spooling it onto my Penn Battle II 9' rod with 6000 Reel, I was half way on and found the line was cut. (Night before I am going on vacation). Put on a double Uni knot and finished because I didn't have time to shop. 2- First cast out and the line broke and I watch my entire rig fly into the ocean as I waved and cursed at the same time. 3- The only reason I gave it a 2 star is because it didn't break when I had a very heavy (15+) on the line and brought it in. 4- The line was more abrasive on the hands than what I am used to with other brands.
Overall, I will not be buying any of their products moving forward. Really disappointed that it didn't work out.
This was my first experience with braided fishing line at my brother's recommendation and a couple others, and I am not impressed. I put it on one of my baitcast reels and the green color bled all over my hands. I got severe backlash on more than one occasion and had hell getting it untangled. The line seemed slow in the water. A few other reasons too but I'm not a fan. I'll stay with mono & flouro.
On the plus side this line won't break. It is very strong.
To my eye, this braided line has a spiral construction. I don't like it, I think it will twost3 and create wind knots. I am returning it!
To be fair, I have Kastking line on a Shimano levelwind reel, and it works well. There are several types of this line, and I'm not sure which is which, or which is better. I'm going to stick with Power Pro for now... though I do get someone knots, especially right after spooling new line.
The strength of the braid seems to be fine. But the bleeding of the braid is just not doing it for me. On the first fishing trip I took my two rods, one with a different brand and my second with Kastkings, I have to say it was not a good day, the bleeding was so bad I had to stop using it. Now I have to by another roll from one of the other brands. I Bought low-Viz Gray and it is the only color I have tried from kastkings. I cannot speak for the other colors. for the price you can give it a try, but I am pretty sure I won't.
