This story gave the reader an insight of what it was like from both perspectives, the allies and German pilot's fighting this war. If the reader is interested in the 2nd world war the story has the effect of removing any bias and you can experience the view point from both war pilots. Based on a true event the author held your interest till the last. Good read.
I never really considered WWII from the "Enemy" point of view. Like the Author, I only wanted to read about the Allies or "the Good Guys" before this story came about. It's humbling to understand there was humanity at great risk of persecution with Franz's actions. He is a true hero in this incredible story.
A must read for any aviation history buff. Gives unique insights into the minds of, and motivation behind, pilots from both sides of the war,. The story unfolds in an engaging and imaginative style and is made all the more poignant because it is true l. A beautiful account of compassion, honour and morality that glows like a beacon of hope for us all, shining brightly through one of humankind's darkest periods.
I thoroughly enjoyed the book, not a book I would have chosen but due to to the Book Club I belong to it was what I was given to read, It gave a different perspective of the Second World Ware and the German Air Force. A nice ending as well.
