Wow. Just Wow.

I am so pleased I decided to read this!
It is definitely not my usual choice in books but I thought I would try something different.. mix it up a bit, you know? And I am super pleased that this is the book I decided on.
It worked for me for a number of reasons. The first being the writing. It was really good. Picoult can write! and it was a joy to read her words.
The second thing was the story. I really liked the characters... well, the character building even more... it was excellent. I love feeling like I practically know the person I am reading about and then crying when sad things happen to them (I did that a bit in this book). I also loved the story. I have always enjoyed stories about the Holocaust and Nazi Germany... I read quite a few as a young adult. So I actually experienced feelings of sentimental- ment reading this one. I also loved the twists. Like, WOAH I DID NOT SEE THAT COMING! and how did I not!!!???
The only thing I didn't love was the feeling of three storylines. It took me a few chapters to figure out how that all worked. I thought initially that the story about Ania was someone's previous life but it is all revealed at the appropriate times.
Great story telling and I am really glad to have read it. I would definitely recommend this one.
4- 4.5 stars.
PS it also had a splash of romance - so of course that made me happy too!
