When this came the box had no cellophane wrapper and ode no manal or licence code so it was useless. I returned it and asked for a replacement whch came a day later and in the same condition; no activation code.
One of the best games in recent years, XCOM breaks a bit from the original XCOM games but still provides an enjoyable, tactical team-based strategy game. The game is tense yet enjoyable, with serious challenge for most players. The gameplay is smooth with a few bugs, and the game provides solid and enjoyable challenge for those unfamiliar with tactical gameplay. The difficulty levels vary enough to provide challenge to most gamers, and the gameplay is solid yet approachable. The game has you command a limited number of XCOM soldiers against a varied level of enemy number and difficulty, and has both long-term strategic elements and challenging short term tactical gameplay. Not for 'new gamers' due to the challenging 'easy' difficulty, the video is attractive, sound and music good, moderate repetition with enough variance to provide an enjoyable non-linear gameplay experience for almost all. And at such an attractive price, the game is a great option. I highly recommend XCOM for most gamers.
Great game! Only drawback is the requirements for a fairly up to date graphics board and cpu. Unfortunately, my notebook is a bit under powered for this game. Though it installs and actually runs, it is so slow it is pure torture to play. I'll be happier with it once I reassemble my tower system, which I designed and built. I have to transfer it to a new tower case and upgrade the video card and power supply. As remakes of older games go, this is fabulous! I used to play this on my original 8-bit PC (Windows 3.1 & Dos 6.22). It was challenging then; but the gameplay was excellent. I have had it for my PlayStation 3 for a few years, and am still enjoying it immensely. I am looking forward to playing this on my tower system, along with the expansion pack: XCom: Enemy Within. I'm also looking forward to trying out some of the mods for it (something you cannot do on the PS3, due to Digital Media Rights crap.) Overall: a very enjoyable, challenging game.
