This is the first book by this author I have read. I throughly enjoyed this story. The lead women characters were strong and likeable as were the men. The plot had lots of twists and turns and kept me interested. I was loathe to put it down. I cannot wait for the next book in the series. I highly recommend this book
Mercy, Duchess of Romsey is a widow and mother, Mercy is lonely and floundering to keep the estate afloat. Her son, the Duke, is 4 years old and she is a devoted mother to him. Her sister Blythe lost her husband and child because of illness. Her sister is her sharpest critic. Her "friend" Anna and her brother are visitors to the estate, only to try and seperate her from the estate, her child and family. Mercy is not interested in going to London for ton events. Leopold Randall has returned home after finding out his diabolical uncle is now deceased. He is intent on finding his brothers and sister who had disappeared after their parents were killed in a carriage accident. He was not expecting to meet someone like Mercy, who is compassionate, devoted to her son, kind, and wanting to help find his family. Leopold has a secret that he fears will end all those feelings but he can't help but be drawn to her. The chemistry between them cannot be fought and so they begin a very loving and passionate relationship. Leopold soon learns that there is a threat to Mercy and Edwin and is determined to help to save them. The threats keep coming and there is an unexpected twist to the story. Leopold then fears that the secrets of the past will divide them but he finds that it is not the end but the beginning of their HEA. I really enjoyed this story! I found it to be well paced and well written. The story line was engaging and entertaining. Its one of those times im glad that i went with my gut instinct and decided to read this story because if i didn't - i would have missed out on a brilliant story! Recommended!!
He finds Mercy, the wife of his cousin and with more relation to himself than he'd ever thought. Leopard had returned to find his family. All wronged by Mercy's father in law, the old duke. He needed clues to find his family, kept from him whilst he had done the file's bidding. What he found was not what he expected, feared but longer for at the same time. God, he was in trouble. Secrets, lies, deception, threats and surprises. Far too many of the latter for either Leopald or Mercy to have anticipated. But, also passion, love and family. Lots of it. Enjoy!
Mixed feelings on this one. I agree with other reviewers that the grammar and punctuation leave a lot to be desired. I can only assume that the author or publishing house didn't bother to get anybody to proof read it. I also found Mercy's behaviour completely unbelievable for that period. Far too outspoken and shamelessly telling Leopold she wants to have sex with him. On the other hand I did enjoy the plot and the growing trust and affection between Leopold and little Edwin. I don't know whether I will buy all 4 books but I will certainly buy the next one as I am curious to see whether anything develops between Blythe and Tobias.
This was a very enjoyable story but the dreadful editing errors jarred throughout! I cannot understand how apostrophe errors and spellings were not picked up before publication -e.g. "duke's" as a collection of dukes, "sole" instead of "soul", "Edward" instead of "Edwin". In fact most uses of apostrophes were wrong! It is such a shame as it spoils the flow of the tale!
this story line. Have downloaded the next one in the series. Got a bit fed up of the sex parts and skipped those pages but apart from that I found the storyline interesting and able to relate to the characters. Looking forward to reading about Tobias next.
