Giles Wexham, Earl of Daventry, is a rgue without a consience until he meets the fragile Lillian Winter once again. Giles had thought that Lillian, his former betrothed, had died in a carriage accident so when she appears before himshe doesn't recognise her. Her father has brought her to Giles for his protection. Read as Giles becomes captivated by her innocence and swears to her her overcome her pain and keep her from the danger that threatens her very life. Can the serious rake overcome his reputation and charm his former betrothed into his bed and life again? Can Giles keep her safe from those who wish to kill the beautiful but delicate Lilian?
Lilly Winter was betrothed to Giles, Lord Daventry, as a child but had an accident which nearly killed her. Giles was told, by her mother, that she had died. He hadn't really known her so it didn't impact him other than to free him up to follow a hedonistic life. He is, therefore, shocked to learn that, not only is she alive but, she is the 'ghost' that he has been seeing for years. Everyone thinks that she is 'broken' (including herself) but Giles feels drawn to her and is determined to prove that she isn't. A good Regency novel with a story.
Another great book written by Heather Boyd. After reading the superb 'Chills', this one, 'Broken' was just as entertaining. The character of Giles Wrexham, Earl of Daventry, to me was a terminal rake! But no, I wrong. What a thoughtful man he turned out to be to his love Lilly Winter! I'm now going to read book three of The Distinguished rogues series, 'Charity'.
