Scott Pratt has created a larger than life figure in Joe Dillard and the action gets one totally involved. His legal situations and arguments seem very real to the lay person and with cleverly contrived but not overdone emotion. They even manage a happy ending, which may not mirror real life cases.
An American violence-solves-everything novel! This novel detracts from Joe Dillard's lawyering and turns him into a heroic gunfighter who takes on the bad guys in a final shoot-out. I could almost hear the theme music from 'High Noon' playing as I read this. And there is the Deus Ex Machina of the sheriff saving the day.
