This book better as a paper copy than Kindle!
11 June 2017
I read this book after watching the movie and found it both better, and darker, with a lot more detail about Jake, the main character, and how he enters the world of the peculiar children. One problem I had with it as a Kindle book, which I raise for the benefit of anyone else considering its purchase, and that is that the book depends heavily on reproductions of old photographs and also a part of the text which is a handwritten letter by one of the characters. Now, my eyesight is not crash hot - I've worn glasses since childhood - and I could not make out the photos very well at all and could not read the handwritten section. I didn't return the book as I thought that wasn't fair - there was nothing wrong with it and I had enjoyed it - but if there was an option to exchange it for an actual paper copy, I'd do that, but that option isn't given. That's why my review isn't higher than a 3.
