Sheila O'Flanagan tells stories you just get lost in. This story is no different.
We start by meeting Dominique Brady, a frustrated teenager with very religious parents, she meets Brendan who is everything that Dominique could ever want in a man, after spending the night together, Dominique falls pregnant, and Brendan proposes and they move in together.
Brendan's career is always on the up, always attending glittering parties and events, and soon the couple are known as the Dazzling Delahayes. However not all is what it seems when Brendan disappears, leaving Dominique and their daughter to cope alone, things look very bleak for them.
This is a pretty hefty book at a little over 500 pages long, this took me a little longer than usual to get into. What I absolutely liked was the fact that the ending was wrapped up with a good conclusion however it would have been nice to see an epilogue maybe a year on. Sheila O'Flanagan has produced another great beach read.
This story encompasses all the 'must haves' for compelling reading. There are the elements of joy, fear, inadequacy , love, hate and acquired confidence. We follow Dominique's life through trials and tribulations knowing that happiness is often found where it is least expected. Another excellent book by Sheila O'Flanagan. I did not want to put it down.
