This is another great story by Vanessa Morgan. I read ‘Clowders’ which I absolutely loved, and this short story really grabbed my attention as well. The story has a definite edge to it, and I couldn’t read it fast enough to see what was going to happen. The stand out for me is the way the Author keeps the reader hanging, and you don’t really know what’s going to happen to the characters, if anything. Love a book that can keep me guessing. Claire and Louise had been friends for years, and with Claire’s partner Noel dying from a brain tumour, they thought it would be good for both families to get away together to the seaside in Belgian. It was hard for Claire to see the success that Louise and her husband had achieved, as nothing seemed to go right for her. Meanwhile there were those predicting the end of the world on March the 23rd. Mind you there are always those sorts of people around with Doomsday predictions. What really starts to unsettle both families are the dark shadows that are creeping around in the dark, and they don’t seem to want to leave. If you are looking for a story that will have you thinking and keep you on the edge of your seat, then this is definitely worth a read. 5/5 Star Rating.
