This book is a bit different to 'Don't Tell Mom I Work on the Rigs: She Thinks I'm a Piano Player in a Whorehouse' because it covers others topics outside the oilfield world. It is interesting and has the same easy style and wit, but is not quite as funny and has some more serious content and issues to consider, such as the authors time in Central Asian war zones.
It is a worthy companion even if not as strong a book in its own right.
Paul Carter is a clever writer and has a familiar sort of the off the cuff style that makes his books both engaging and fun easy reading. He obviously has many more stories than this book and its sister title contain.
