Exactly as expected Mounted in mid 2011 iMac as second drive After migrating all from HDD to SSD the iMac boots 10 times faster and using it is a pleasure again - HDD is now just on board storage
In this situation and depending on the connector chosen - be careful with cable connection to the drive - you may need to mount with more spacers - the connector to the drive is quite delicate and no force from cable bending should be placed onto connector
I got this SSD for an upgrade to my existing system and after using the EVO 860's on my laptops I decided to try these Crucial SSD's for my desktop. After reading all the stats and watching heaps of videos I decide to give these a go based upon the fact that the stats are so close but the prices are not... I'm completely happy with my choice and would recommend them to any other user (y)
Exactly what I ordered, came in retail packaging with a spacer to fit thicker 2.5” caddies. Wasn’t required for my PS4 as it was a straight swap into existing screw mountings. Works well for PS4 upgrades.
Have a 500GB unit in service continuously for 9 months now. No problems at all. It arrived 4 days sooner than originally estimated. Installed in an old Asus A73E as the primary drive while keeping the original hard drive as secondary.
Perhaps due to dual booting with Linux I did not have any luck with Windows cloning software. Ended up reinstalling Windows 10 from scratch, which was OK since it activated with the original OEM license.
Crucial does SSDs at a reasonable price so I've been buying them for many PC builds now. Although I don't usually buy hardware from Amazon the price was attractive.
Upon arrival, the drive was detected and formatted with no issues.
Although I'm giving 5 stars, I wasn't happy with the packaging. For hardware at this price, it would be nice to see at least bubble wrap. However the retail packaging(box) is adequate I suppose. Maybe I'm just being pedantic, regardless, I still recommend it, great value mass storage to fit in any PC build!
The capacity is impressive for its tiny size. At this price it's easily the best value in SSD drives right now. Software to enable cloning of your current main drive would be appreciated. Luckily some free software is available on internet.
Although SATA may not be the optimum connection for SSD, it sped up my old computer a lot. Startup (booting) now takes a few seconds, before it took many minutes. Everything is noticeably faster. The old hard disks tended to fail after 5 years or so, the Crucial MX500 is guaranteed for 5 years, so here is hoping it lasts. They say that the emptier an SSD is, the longer it will last, which is partly why I got the 2Tb version.
After installing the disk my laptop is running at lightning speed now. It was very easy to clone the system with the 'Acronis True Image for Crucial' software witch is freely available for download from www.acronis.com. I was so close to throwing away my 7 year old i7 due to it's slowness it's 7200 rpm hard drive was causing. Now I feel I could use it for few more years. Highly recommended.
