As with every game with my 10 year old she gets frustrated in the learning the rules part of process, but by the second turn she knew what was going on and was strategizing. It was pretty exciting as the board slowly flooded or sank into the abyss with each passing turn and towards the end we're a card turn away from losing it all.
This is an open hand co-op game where you can discuss the strategy so it should be ok for younger children as long as they're interested. This has good replay value and has me interested in getting the other similar games in the series. Highly recommended.
Played with a group of kids (13, 9, 7, 5) who all had a blast. A little too complicated for the youngest, but she was happy to join in. Overall, a pretty good cooperative game with a nice level of complexity.
