The most complicated plot I've ever read. A truly disturbing and epic tale of revenge. A fancful and fantastic saga of a man who appoints himself an agent of God's vengeance. Profound, suspenseful and even occasionally amusing...I loved it.
It is forty years since I read The Count of Monte Christo (as a teenager). Remembering it fondly, I finally returned to it with this kindle edition of the Penguin Classics (Robin Buss's translation). Thanks to R Cooper for their very thorough review which persuaded me to buy this edition - see below.
This is a great book and for 1300 odd pages, incredibly pacy. I am presently 34% into it and absolutely loving it. I'm sure I am driving everyone around me mad by constantly saying so!
If you're returning to this book, do not hesitate to buy this edition. If you're new to it, what a treat you have in store. It is wonderful!!!
One small gripe though, I am disappointed to report that this kindle edition is not navigable by chapters. I just spend many minutes clicking through hundreds of pages to get back to my page around 36%. If you're paying $$$ for an out-of-copyright kindle book, it should have this basic feature enabled.
