To calculate the overall star rating and percentage breakdown by star, we don’t use a simple average. Instead, our system considers things like how recent a review is and if the reviewer bought the item on Amazon. It also analyses reviews to verify trustworthiness.
Summed up in a word, unimpressive. While they sound OK, these shakers are far too expensive for what they are. The maximum I'd pay for the complete set is around $15 retail, and individually about $6 each, and only if I received them in new pristine condition.
Their construction is flimsy. Made in Thailand with cheap labour, they are fragile, constructed from two pieces of thin moulded poor quality plastic roughly glued together containing whatever material the pellets are made of. The price asked is for the Meinl name, which in this case isn't worth it. With the Meinl brand I though they'd be quality. They aren't.
To add insult to injury, mine were shipped loose in a clear plastic ziplock bag placed inside a padded Amazon bag, both inadequate to prevent damage given how fragile the plastic of these shakers is. Two of the shakers I received had visible impact stress damage in them and one had a deep dent in it received from something sharp edged The third had numerous scratches over it. As they were received with damage, I returned them for a refund, but even had they not been, I would have returned them in any case. I can't recommend these at the price charged. $2 each at the "nothing over $2" Reject Shop would be about what shakers of such poor quality and construction would be worth to me. I wouldn't buy these or pay for the Meinl brand again based upon this experience.
