Liked all the characters but would have liked to know a bit more about Maggies past troubles. They seemed glossed over and not in depth enough for me to feel she really understood Paige. Liked how smart she was when Paige was kidnapped. Cage really was trying hard to do the right thing by Paige and deserves praise for taking on a troubled teenage shifter. Just felt the ending wrapped up a bit quick even with the epilogues.
This is book 3 in the Sylvan City Alpha series written by the amazing Reina Torres.
Let me set the record straight about fight clubs:
The first rule about owning one is that it’s no place for shifters. Let alone anyone else.
Meet Cage Gamble. Cage is a Jaguar Shifter in Sylvan City. Cage also owns the very first and as far as Sylvan City residence know the one and only licensed ‘fight club’. A place where men and shifters who are brave enough or as some people would say either stupid or asking for a hospital trip that they could fight in the ring or the cage. It was also a good life. Some was hard work and also lots of play. Well that was until Cage was called to England to take full custody of his best friend’s daughter. It was her father’s sudden passing left her in Cage’s custody and care. Even Cage could handle the likes of a berserk bear shifter or even a gorilla, both of which are full of rage with one hand, even one wrong look. However handling a moody teenage lioness? That's what wasn't going to easy for anyone let alone Cage.
Just as Cage was nearly ready to try and string himself up from hopefully the nearest light post and jump. Cage's old commanding officer throws him a lifeline.
The sweet if you could say that about any young woman; then meet the one and only Maggie Fordice. Maggie is the Colonel’s former rebellious daughter. Maggie is now all grown up and moving back home to Sylvan City. On paper Maggie was just what Cage needed. Cage was hoping that Maggie was a teen-whisperer. However getting up close and very personal. Maggie was also what Cage wanted. Maggie was very whip smart and totally voluptuous and Maggie was as far as Cage knew the only woman who could send Cage firing high up in flames with just a simple look or even just a wiggle.
Maggie was ready to set light to the match and burn all Cage's resistance to the ground. Even when Maggie was helping Cage that brought danger to her doorstep. Was Cage suddenly going against his word to every rule he made just to try and win the fight for what Cage really felt for the fiery woman. This woman, who Cage found out she lived just across the street?
Or was Cage daring enough to go to fight for what they both could have. Both Maggie and Cage could have everything. It was all there and ready for the taking? Would Cage and Maggie take the chance at possibly the only one shot they both had at finding happy ever after?
I give The Fighter (Bad Alpha Dads) by Reina Torres Five Stars. This is book three of the Sylvan City Alphas and can be read as a standalone. I would recommend reading them in order though because the Characters from the other two books make appearances in this book also. If you like Paranormal Shifter books with hot alpha shifter men you will love this book. It was very well written and a very quick read.
Cage Gamble is a Jaguar Shifter in Sylvan City where he owns a fight club. This is the first place men and shifters can fight against each other in a safe place. He thought his life was going great until he got the phone call that will change his life. After he got the call that he was now the Guardian of a teenage girl because his best friend and his wife got killed. Not only is this teenage girl moody but she is also a lioness which makes this even harder on him. Cage needs major help and he is at a lost as to where to find it until his old commanding officer comes to the rescue.
Maggie Fordice was the rebellious daughter of Cage's commanding officer The Colonel's. Maggie is all grown up to be a smart voluptuous woman and has recently moved back home to Sylvan City. Her father has the great idea to have her help Cage out seeing as she was once the same type of teenager minus the shifter properties. Only problem is she up to helping the man that she has had a crush on forever? Can she get through to the teenager girl without making it worse? You will have to read the book to find out!
Maggie was ready to light a match and burn his resistance to the ground, even when helping him brought danger to her doorstep. Was Cage going to fight what he felt for the fiery woman who lived across the street? Or was he going to fight for what they could have… everything?
This book has both on page sex and cursing including f-bombs. If those things will cause you to leave a bad review, you should skip this one.
The Fighter is another fabulous “shifter” story from Reina Torres. Confirmed bachelor Cage Gamble is woefully unprepared when he is suddenly thrust into the roll of foster father to a moody teenage shifter, but lucky for him, Maggie Fordice is willing to help him navigate the pitfalls of becoming a father. Although becoming an insta-parent wasn't something that Cage was prepared for, watching him slowly start to figure out not only how to deal with Frances but with his own feelings for her was nothing short of swoon-worthy. Maggie played a big part of that, and I really adored the way that she identified with Frances and helped her along. I also really enjoyed the fact that some characters from Ms. Torres' previous shifter books played a part in this one. You do not have to be familiar with them in order to appreciate their parts in this book, but if you are, those cameos will be extra special.
If you're looking for a sweet and sexy read with a dash of mystery and great characters, I would highly recommend this book.
IF you read the last book, you knew that Cage was getting a teenager to raise. Cage was so worried that he would be a bad father that he had everyone giving him advise. Jump to now, Maggie has known Cage for a long time and has had a crush on him since forever. Cage was one of her Dad's men from the military. When Maggie comes back to town to re-open the diner, sparks fly. Cage see's that Maggie is his mate and plans to take it slow. He doesn't let his panther push him. Frances is having a hard time adjusting to living with Cage but with the help of Maggie, things start to smooth out.
This was a smooth read. Frances getting help from Maggie to adjust and find her place was great to read. And then you had Cage and Frances finally coming to terms with Frans loss of her parents and Cage's love of just wanting her to have a great life and feel loved. Maggie and Cage was great. These two had some funny moments in bed. The teasing and "prowling" in seducing was so enjoyable.
Then we have the twist and then it heats up. I really hope we get a book about Dom next.
“You lost your parents. Your home. Your whole country. And I gained a grumpy teenaged girl with crazy hair and claws.” Book is packed with character growth. Maggie has turned her rebellious life around, has returned to town, now owns the diner and is a somewhat teen-whisperer. Cage has to adapt from bachelor life to parenthood and is learning to be a good father to his friend’s moody teenager, Frances. After losing her parents, rebellious Frances is learning that there are still people out there that care about her and can help her with her shifter life. The Fighter is a steamy read with a smoking hot romance, a well-done shifter transformation during an electrified fight scene at the club and an action-packed chase scene. There’s a connection happening between Frances and Cobb that I’m hoping will be explored in later books (they’re teens, so…) I also enjoyed appearance from characters from former books. An engaging read from Reina Torres!
This book is packed with everything that you want a book to have, its got a alpha male, a very supporting female, and its also has a fiesta teenager to throw in the mix. I love Reina Torres books.
Gabe is a ex military turned fighter who has been given the privilege to raise his best friends teenage daughter when her parents are killed. Frances feels no one wants her and so she acts out trying to figure where she fits in but she learns Gabe does want her and to help her see this is Gabe's former Colonel's daughter Maggie. Maggie was once a troubles youth after her mother leaves and she is left along while her father is on missions. Maggie is grown up now and has always had a crush on Gabe. When Frances' family comes after her there is trouble. Will Maggie and Gabe be able to show her that they are all a family? Will Gabe be able to make Maggie his mate? A must read. Worthwhile.
This is the story of Cage and his Jaguar He becomes responsible for a friends daughter after her parents are killed. Like him she is a shape shifter and she is rebelling against him and authority. She ends up in legal trouble but thanks to Cage's old leader she is taken under wing by Maggie, who agrees to help Cage deal with his charge, and he soon finds out Maggie is his long lost mate, the one to make his life complete. Along the way there is trouble brewing from a long distant person, and Maggie wants to fight what she feels for Cage because of her parent's history. Can she believe Cage and trust her heart to him, can she help his "daughter" get over her anger issues. This is a great book and part of a great series.
Cage is fighter with a very soft heart. Cage has become guardian to a teenage girl Frances. Frances lost both her parents she is having a very hard time. Cage meets Maggie and know instantly she is his mate. Maggie had troubled childhood and wants to help Cage with Frances. Cage feels like he is failing Frances and he does not want to fail Maggie too. Maggie finally convinces Frances to accept her help. Cage wants to take care of Maggie and Frances and keep them both safe. Love how Cage never gives up on Frances. If you were too look up word protector in the dictionary you would see a picture of Cage. This is sweet and sexy shifter romance. Cage is wonderful sexy hero.
This book has so many layers, a woman who fought her way back from self destruction, a girl fighting to come to terms with the loss of her parents, and the alpha male fighting to bring his family together. The author really surpassed the challenge of the Bad Alpha Dads and brought us this book that had so many realistic qualities that I could see the film play in my head. I loved the return of old characters and the introduction of new ones and the exciting story that brought us to the HEA. I can’t wait until the next time the author takes us back to Sylvan City, I’m sure it will be memorable.
