This was an enjoyable love story, and an interesting read. I don't want to give too much away, but the story covered two countries and significant historical context, which made it far more interesting than your average romance. I finished it very quickly; yes, it was easy to read but I also wanted to find out what would happen next. Would welcome more from this author.
Absolutely enjoyed reading this book. Story line kept me enthralled and I couldn't put it down. Twists and turns right until the end. Could relate to many of the areas where the story was set which added to my enjoyment of the book. Thought the book was well written. Great debut novel and I look forward to more from this author.
What a lovely cover for a very different & interesting second chance romance. Set in Sth Africa in the apartheid period with Anna escaping to Australia. David also left for the UK around the same time. It would've been a very stressful time for all parties living in that country. A chance meeting in 2000 brings our two back together in Sydney. While perhaps I've divulged too much, it's what happens in between that haunts them both. So there's quite a bit of back history & internal dialogue to deal with. Maybe even a bit angsty at times. Both never forgetting the other. At times I was torn apart by all the uncertainty which rocked this couple. What I also liked, after a recent trip to Sth Africa, was the familiarity of the places mentioned. Even today it must be hard for the people to live peacefully & we were always careful where we went. Overall it was a wonderful, even inspiring tale of two soulmates reconnecting. The author also added a few twists to the story. I received a complimentary copy for an honest review from Voracious Readers Only.
Enjoyed the story quite alot, loved stoyline around how apartheid effected people on a personal level. Devastating but inspiring at the same time. The lovestory giving both points of view really kept me rooting for both the lead characters.
