The more things change, the more they stay the same."

"You say you want a revolution." (John Lennon) There is no such thing as a benevolent dictator. Oh, it all starts out like wine and roses, but over time, and sometimes, over a very short time, the wine turns to vinegar and the roses wilt. When that happens, we are left with a situation that resembles the tyranny that we rebelled against in the first place. During the darkest days of The Frazer era, Malcolm proclaimed "one day we will remember these times, fondly as, the good old days."
Life is cyclic and the grass is greener, are the cautionary messages that Orwell is warning us of in this tale. Unfortunately, we are doomed to repeat our mistakes endlessly.
