The book is fine for armchair travelers, but not really helpful if you are actually going to Paris and want specific details on self directed food walking tours. We are going to Paris again this Fall (we went last Fall), and I bought the book hoping it would include detailed routes for walking tours in Paris, with multiple food-related stops noted for each route. Something more along the lines of the City Walks series, but highlighting food (shops, markets, cafes, etc). Instead, each chapter just has a narrative which mentions a few possible stops, and doesn't even detail how to best navigate around the area from one stop to another.
In some cases, the author even promotes companies that offer fee-based walking tours (and very expensive ones at that). I can find those on my own (as a matter of fact, I have taken food walking tours in a number of cities, including Paris). What I was looking for in this book was "insider knowledge" which would allow for me to take such food walking tours on my own, and unfortunately this book doesn't really deliver.
