This book is a life-changer, but has probably come too late for me. I don't expect to live much longer as I am nearly 80.
Dale Carnegie's book "How to win friends & Influence People" was a life-changer for me half a century ago. "Never Split The Difference" takes over where Dale Carnegie left off, with all the nuts and bolts described plainly. I got my first big job after reading Carnegie's book two and a half times, but usually failed other job interviews because there were multiple interviewers - each with their own desires. Never Split the Difference shows me exactly how I should have handled these interviews, and not only got the job, but got it for more than they expected to pay me. My family life would have been very different too if I had negotiated with them.

I've studied negotiations at university and while trying to apply those skills in day to day life, focusing on haggling while on holidays found they never worked to well (actually after reading this book established I felt I was being selfish and bullying). I have already encouraged my family to read this book to learn new skills and to provide robust frameworks around other negotiating skills. Chris Voss has provided as easy to read book with many terrific real world examples that I hope to start using in my day to day life. Definitely worth a read.

I’ve learned so much from reading this book that to say that it is life changing might be an overstatement but gets pretty close to how I feel about the insights Chris reveals throughout. Not only did I learn strategies for future conflict and negotiation but also I could clearly articulate through the insights how I had destroyed opportunities in the past by blundering in and making a mess of prior negotiations.

This book offers new information that is super useful both in business and in relationships.

It’s hard to find gems like these. You won’t regret reading it.
It’s a breath of fresh air to read a book that is offering something new and not just rehashing what I have read from others in the past.

I’ve recommended this book more times than I remember.

Without question the best book on negotiation I've ever read (and I've read a few!). Very practical and easy to apply techniques and principles. And it's not just for stereotypical negotiation contexts - it's been amazing with my 3yr old! And it's a fantastic read too! I read it cover to cover and then when straight back to the start again.

Great tools for negotiating everything in life. Well written with theories back by real life stories. A must for every salesperson but also just anyone wanting to improve their ability to deal with conflict and negotiating for win-win

Loved the flow and pace of the book. Full of practical examples and techniques. Would recommend to anyone who needs a boost with how to handle negotiations that occur in every day life, not just for hostage negotiators
