I enjoyed this book - it has such nuggets of truth to ruminate on. However, there were statements I did not agree with ... what came to mind at the end of this read is “stand for nothing fall for everything”. It’s a modern tale of inclusivity - as long as you agree with their definition of inclusivity. All in all though, I would recommend because you will definitely come away with something to challenge you and some strategies to apply to your life. I have never thought of showing up as vulnerable as being brave - but I love this “definition” and has motivated me to change my ways.
Brene brings her passion and vulnerability to the universal story. While needing to belong to a broader community - we only truly belong to our selves. Brene sets out the way in which we can chart our way through both isolation and connection that matters. An essential guide to those who are on the journey to discover their meaning and purpose. An absolute necessity for those who want to plunge into making that meaning and purpose real in their life.
I love the way this book flows. It’s easy to relate to and automatically I could feel myself applying it to aspects of my own life. It’s clear, direct and succinct in its matter of fact approach. A fantastic read that I’ll go back to in reminding me that we all have an inherent desire to belong, and that to really be ourselves, we have to be authentic, vulnerable and true to ourselves.
Like all Brene'Brown books this is fantastic and practical. The practices Brene'talks about are doable in the real world. The hardest part of the practices in this book is about not engaging in denegration of people who are denegrating you. I think that means I should not share anymore of the memes of President Trumps bad hair!!!!!
I have heard so much about this author and I was expecting to be blown away. Instead it was mostly common sense advice. She does express this advice very well with examples, and I still enjoyed reading the book.
This book is the most important you will read today. It takes courage to listen to the deep truths within and then to live them, but it is the only way for humanity to remain as a viable, workable community. Thank you, Brene Brown.
I loved this book. She speaks her truth in a down to earth way. It is inspirational without being fluffy. There were so many parts of the book that resonated with me and I look forward to reading more from Brene Brown. I cant recommend this book enough.
Fell in love with Brene Browns Ted Talks and was captivated by some of the topics she discussed and points she made. I then realized I had already purchased this book but not read yet. An absolute joy to read and important topic discussed.
