Pure genius - the entire book. The book is divided into three parts, 2 novellas that appear to be unconnected, and a coda that links them. The styles are completely different, but all three draw you in. There is so much in this book to ponder, in terms of general life philosophy, riffs on sports and and the modern geopolitical situation (the second novella is truly Kafkaesque) I feel I must reread it, maybe more than once. What is even more extraordinary is that it is the author's first novel. A MAJOR new talent. Read it.
A most enjoyable reading! It's a thoughtful, thought provoking book. Full of humanity and humour and love, erotic and familial and the madness of extremism and of human beings to endure and hope. In a word, wonderful.
