Peter's book boasts clear and succinct histories on every major game console and home computer (handhelds excepted, possibly a future book for those) of the past few decades, and a brief breakdown of the best playing, best looking, and absolute worst game for each. I'd call myself knowledgeable, by no means an expert, but knowledgeable, and many of the blurbs about the consoles and games include facts I didn't know, making it well worth a read. Photographs of each console are very well done, no blurry copies from old product catalogues, all taken for this book. That means no obscured details, no egregious reflections. My one criticism is, on some of the pages, the page colour makes the text a little hard to read, but that's probably just the poor light I tend to read under.
100% recommend for anyone into retro gaming, or, literally, as a coffee table book. Leave it on a coffee table, let guests leaf through it.
