Marching Powder was a totally absorbing tale of the unique nature of the San Pedro prison in La Paz. Rusty Young has done a great job at holding your interest from one drama to the next. Not only that but he brings out the lengths officials and so on will go to get the most for themselves through their corrupt behaviour. Corruption which goes to the highest levels in the 'legal??' system in Bolivia. The main thing about all this is that this story is true.
Amidst all the badness, you will learn of the strange community that made up San Pedro. Including the fact that it was not just the prisoners, but in a lot of cases the wives and children of same who 'lived' in the prison.
I guess in all the happenings in this book, you almost come to believe that the star of the book Thomas McFadden might have even been innocent of the charges of Drug Trafficking.

Super easy to read and to follow. I found this book SO interesting and I read in within a couple of days... It was like something out of a movie what had been written- I couldn't believe the things that occurred in this prison!! The main man, Thomas- even though a criminal, he really was rather endearing and you couldn't help but like him and want him to pull through. This book was great- I'd read it again!

What a great read! I heard Rusty interviewed on Radio and decided to buy the book. I was not disappointed. This story would make a good film. A great insight into a completely different world. Highly recommended.

An amazing story of one person's resilience & strength. Fascinating. A warning to anyone thinking that you can get away with drug trafficking & the evil hold it can have on you.

Great read with a happy ending. Very informative and at times extremely scary and sad. I hope the promise to good had been kept! Loved it 😁

This was an intriguing story and a well written book. It was really easy to read and I really enjoyed it. It's probably not 100% fact buy still hard to comprehend a prison system like it.

Really enjoyed this. Would highly recommend others to read this. Although he was a trafficker, the prison in itself was interesting

Absolutely captivating from beginning to end. Well written and very hard to put down, gives a great insight into something I hope never to experience first hand.
