Regina Torres is a new author for me.. I felt the book lacked something, it was a little repetitive and underwhelming.. I didn't feel a connection with the main characters or the story line.. I stopped reading at @ 70%... I love Susan Stoker and have read a lot of books where her characters appear in story lines but this book was just ok..
Jackson swept Hi'ilani off her feet the first time they met. His job forced him to push her away. Hi'ilani and Jackson have a past. Jackson is special forces. and his life was dangerous and he wanted to protect her so Jackson pushed her away. He realizes he can be with special forces and still have relationships and family. He came back into her life asking for her forgiveness. Hi'ilani is a singer and actress and now her life is in danger. Jackson is now her protector. Hi'ilani doubted herself after he walked away but Hi'ilani never stopped loving Jackson. Jackson is best man she has ever known. What kept him alive was the thought that someday he would have a chance to make things right with Hi'ilani. Jackson realizes with right woman at his side it changes everything. This is wonderful second chance romance. I would totally recommend .
This author has written so many stories I've loved from sweet Westerns to sexy shifters to sexy contemporary, but I've never read one that is about her home state of Hawaii. And this one captured my heart and my mind from the moment I began reading it.
Jackson has been in the service and worked hard to become a part of Delta Force. But, in order to do his job, he's had to give up some things, too, one of them being Hi'ilani, the only woman he has ever loved. Because of the nature of his job, there are things he would never be able to tell a significant other, parts of his job he'd never be able to discuss. And if he were to be called to duty, his country would always have to come first. He thought he was saving her from heartache.
But when he finally decides to get his act together and face her with the love only she can crush, they end up in the middle of a mystery that has already claimed one life and could easily take hers. In order to keep her from harm, he has to protect her, and he calls in his "brothers" from Delta Force to assist. Will he be able to convince her that he's willing to give their relationship everything he can, or will she turn away from him, the only man who has ever broken her heart and the one man who could save hers?
Each of the characters she's written are fun and funny in their own way. There are a few of Hi'ilani's family members who are especially colorful and had me giggling. I can't help but to believe that she has to have based some of them on people she's known. Whatever the formula, it works here, and I truly enjoyed it from beginning to end. And the steamy parts just lended to the story. Other than some problems with sentence structure and punctuation, it was an easy read and didn't take long at all. I definitely recommend it.
Hiilani was a dancer from Hawaii. Jackson was in love with her but he broke up with her because he didn't think being a Seal allowed him to be in a relationship. Rayne, Ghost, Mary and Truck were on vacation in Hawaii and Jackson was told to show them around. After being around them he decided he could be in a relationship, so he took the couple's to see Hiilani dance and ask forgiveness. She took a break and witnesses a murder and the people doing the shooting. Good story.
This book takes you on a ride. It introduces you ago Jackson and two of his teammates while bringing back some of our old friends. Jackson helps out his ex girlfriend, who he still loves. She witnessed a murder and now the killers are after her can Jackson keep her safe and win her back Read to find out.
Great start to a new series - I am looking forward to the next one. This book fits in well with Operation Alpha world. Jackson aka Ajax and Hi'iani get a second chance with help from Ghost, Truck and the Delta Force Hawaii team. I appreciated the appendix on how to pronounce Hawaiian words as well as glossary of Hawaiian terms.
