This is the best self help book I've ever read. The author is straight to the point, empowering and practical, covering the issue of food addiction from all angles. It also doesn't force you to try any particular eating plan, you are free to apply the techniques to any type of diet that suits you. I can't rave enough about this truly life changing book. The one thing I do have to say is you need to have an open mind because it's definitely a very unique theory, but it works.
I like how there is no sugar-coating in this book. It tells it how it is, good or bad and practical and well explained advice on how to navigate your own inner pig. Glenn has taken complex science and put it forward in a way we can all understand. Referring to our primitive lower brain as The Pig is a very effective way, I feel, to think of our drive to binge. I would recommend this book to anyone struggling with bingeing who has an open mind and heart.
Saying that this book is simply telling people to "just stop" is an oversimplification. While at its core the Never Binge Again method is to just stop that is always going to be the case. There will never be a magical cure to your food issues.
What this book does do is give a new perspective and way to conquer impulsivity that can be applied to many areas of life. It provides a mental toolkit for overcoming problems and I highly recommend it (four stars due to repetitiveness, which I guess is to reinforce the ideas).
What an eye-opener. I've never thought about my eating from this perspective before and it has awoken me to the possibility that I may be able to start to think about food in a more natural way rather than thinking about it as something to do when I'm bored or tired or any other reason that I might have for overeating on a daily basis.
What a different way of thinking about how we eat. Glenn's book is working for me and I haven't finished reading it yet. It's a great idea to listen and read together (immersion reading) as I think this really cement's ideas.
Absolutely brilliant perspective. Thankyou Glenn. You have saves my sanity. I am now in control of my decisions and have the tools available within me to adjust and modify my life rules as my pig tries to take over again.
