Adriana, you have done a fantastic job with this new series.
Some people will hate, a lot of people will love, forgive & forget is hard but isn’t impossible, life is so full of beautiful things.
I’m writing this piece of a review from a hospital bed full of health issues, waiting for surgery this afternoon and I can see how people can be passionate with words, sometimes mistakes happen, and that's ok to forgive if you love that person.
Dane & Neely have so much to go through and rediscover themselves, has been a long time for them, but the true feelings still there, healthy, pulsing, the chemistry is strong, they need to finish their love story.
I swooned in this book, real problems, and fell in love for them.
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for providing an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I was so excited to read a new series from Adriana Locke and this book definitely did not disappoint with its second chance romance. I loved all the characters in this book and my heart moved for the mistakes and heartbreak that they had to endure. This book gave us a very determined career woman with a very sexy single father and the cutes little girl, with many other great characters in between to fall in love with. Full of twists and turns the author will send you on an emotional ride that you with thoroughly enjoy every page of.
Neely left Dogwood Lane for college 10 years ago with a broken heart, she is only just returning for the first time. Is fate that crawl that is would make her run into the person she has been trying for 10 years to forget Dane. Her only driving fouse has been her job and as she has just walked from that job she finds herself at a turning point in her life so she decides with the help of her best friends to return home for a new day to regroup.
“You know that they say – Sunshine brings opportunities.” “A set of eyes the color of leaves at the beginning of spring snatch my gaze and pin me in place from a few feet away. There’re green so bright, so lively, so familiar. Oh, carp.”
Dane has made some mistakes but he has not desirer to regret them all as he got the most precious gift out of it all Mia his daughter. He has tried to do the right thing and forget the one woman he hurt the most but what will he do when she walks back into town after being in New York for all these years?
“Neely isn’t someone I can gamble with. There’s no kissing and forgetting. There’s only wanting more. Needing more. Desiring more. And not being able to have it.” “I broke her heart. I broke her heart in the worst way I could and the fact she didn’t tell me to f#@# right off is more than I really deserve. It’s thank I would’ve given me.” Can mistakes you made as a teenager direct your whole life? Can you forgive the one that broke your heart completely? Can your job stay your most important part of your life? Can you forgive others and your self and move forward?
"There's a wall between us we can't skirt. It's built with just as many tears and just as much betrayal as it is any good times we shared."
I haven't read many books by Adriana Locke as yet (on my TBR!), but this one definitely makes me want to catch up on all those that I have missed.
Neely and Dane's story was fantastic. To each other, they're both basically "the one that got away" and there are plenty of unresolved feelings and issues attached to their story.
After a huge decision in her New York life, Neely ends up back home visiting her Mum in Dogwood Lane, and boy oh boy do I love that little town. The characters in this story were fantastic. All our secondary characters were lots of fun and had well developed personalities, and I really can't wait to read more about them in future books.
Dane and Neely of course have much to go through and discover about themselves and each other, and seeing them reconnect, and also meeting Mia, was wonderful. I fell in love with everything as I was reading this story.
The ending was also swoony and perfect and I highly recommend. Can't wait for the next one in this series.
Reviewed on behalf of 3 Degrees of Fiction book blog. This book deserves more than the standard five stars. I am a big, big fan of Adriana Locke, and I have loved every book I have ever read of hers. Dane and Neely's book is a great second chance at love story. I knew something had happened when they first meet up again, and when their past was revealed, I totally sympathised with Neely. It was something I think would be hard to ever get over. The best part about this story was how Neely found herself. For years she thought the life she was living was what was best for her, but all it took was a few weeks back in her hometown for her to eventually realise what it was and who she actually wanted and needed. I have to say Mia is such a well written character, and at times she really stole the show. Thankfully this is book one in a new series, and I cannot wait for the next one.
I’m true Locke form she has smashed this series starter out of the park!!!
Dane and Neely embark on a 2nd chance love - one they both realised they wanted more than they cared to admit. Their chemistry is scorching hot and everyone can feel the heat rise when they are in a room together.
I am so excited for this new Dogwood Lane series, Locke has set up several characters to have their own stories; I can’t wait to get my hands on book 2.
A great easy read. Second chance small town romance with a gorgeous single dad & great strong female lead. Yes please!
I loved their banter. The slowburn feel of the book and the regrets, feelings that were exposed and explored. Neely and Dan were well rounded characters with well thought out dialogue and plenty of chemistry. Add in a super cute daughter, meddling friends and you've got a fantastic story.
If you like second chance, small town romances then this one's for you. Great writing and story, only reason it didn't get full stars is that I didn't like the idea of the sort of cheating that Dane did (they were broken up so it wasn't really cheating, but my romantic heart breaks a little every time a main characters just seem to move on to the next girl so easily).
Well what a surprise this book by Adriana Locke was, I've read a book/books by this author but it was before I started leaving reviews so I don't really have any recall although I know I enjoyed them as I didn't delete them when finished . This was such a touchy feely story not rocket science or anything that hasn't been written before, but it was done beautifully and was a joy to read.
This has everything I want in a romance. Fabulous characters, quirky small town, friendship from childhood family values , adorable funny children , witty banter and a second chance of romance. Dane is sexy and Neely feisty, characters that your willing to get together right from the first page. This book has all the feels and couldn't put it down.
