I really enjoyed this book - so much that I paid the full price for the second in the series! Great premise which builds on to a range of strange stories from that era. If you enjoy CJ Archer's books you'll probably like this - in fact I was half expecting the Ministry of Curiosities to turn up! Goss uses an interesting style where the protagonists comment on various parts of the story ...I really like it as a different way to present a story.
The cooking together different Victorian literary figures into a single narrative has become a popular genre and Theodora Goss Athena Club series is a wonderful edition. I was very happy to be able to leap straight into the second book having swiftly finished the first.
While it took a little time to adapt to the style of this book, it was worth it! Interesting and well developed characters, a plot full of adventures and twists, and once you get used to it, a refreshingly different style. Worth the read!
