A Henry VIII Consort Like No Other
12 September 2015
As usual, as in her past novels, Philippa Gregory shines in this one. Very little is known about Henry VIII's last wife and Gregory's excellent research and descriptive passages paints a believable portrait of a strong woman with indomitable character. Like most women of her time, the men just wanted to treat her like a convenient "chattel". However, Katherine Parr used her intelligence, charm and diplomacy to steer her way through the plotting and intrigues of both the King and his court. This book makes for wonderful and stimulating reading!
