I absolutely loved this book. It is totally wonderful! It is about a young boy named august pullman and how he tries surviving school after being homeschooled his whole life. He was born with a deformed face, so that makes it harder for him. The story is very moving and the author just has a way with words. I was pulled into the story and I know other people will adore it as much as I did.
how one person can make a difference. being me i get bullyied but nothing compared to what aggie went through. this book makes you really think about how lucky we as humans to even have normal face. aggie goes through so much includingallthe surgerys.
next time you see someone being bullyied think about aggie, jack, summer, via and what they go through.
The book is more for readers aged 10 - 14 with a good message in it. It does take a rather long time to read but to get the storyline it's worth it. The book is about a boy called August who has issues with his face and goes to school for the first time. This book is based on many different peoples perspectives.
This book is good for ages 7 up I started reading it with my mum and she loved it.It got all these different parts so if you see it in a shop and you like books with lots of different then buy it because this is the best book ever!!!!!!!!!
This book id one of the greatest books of all time. It is about a boy named August Pullman, whom when he was born was given a double dose of this gene which gave him a cranofacial disorder. After reading this book, I realised something. Just because someone looks the way they do, you shouldn't judge them straight away. You should get to know someone before you come to a conclusion on what they are like. This book is a perfecg example and I totally recommend it.
I was captivated initially by the way in which the author used contemporary school kidspeak, although I'm not at all keen on it in real life! Next I was taken with the way the story unfolded through the eyes of so many different characters. Last but certainly not least, was very impressed with the understanding and empathy shown throughout. It's a great story, thank you!
This book is amazingly relatable. I am about Auggie's age and found that I could connect with him and feel sympathetic. Even though being Auggie's age helped me to relate, I think that anyone of any age, would love this moving and inspiring masterpiece by the great R. J. Palacio!
This may be classified as a Young Adult book, but I think it has a wide appeal to all ages. Young people will certainly be able to relate to the story as it is told from their age viewpoint for many of the chapters. However, it is also easy to feel the emotion and heartbreak of the parents. Ultimately, I felt this book contained so many lessons for all of us - of all ages. It reminded me a little of a film called "Mask", but with a happier ending, which perhaps is why the Young Adult classification.
Kindness Kinder than is necessary. Because it’s not enough to be kind. One should be kinder than needed. Why I love that line, that concept, is that it reminds me that we carry with us, as human beings, not just the capacity to be kind, but the very choice of kindness.
A powerful, inspiring and uplifting story celebrating the courage it takes living in a world where you're labelled as different, and the best it can draw out of others given the right encouragement, nurturing and guidance. A wonderful read for everyone, young and old!
