Go me, another book read from my back log of books. Good old Amazon informed me I'd purchased this book in 2016, I really thought I was up to date with this series, but clearly I wasn't. It was only after I'd just read LAWLESS that I decided to check what other outstanding books I had by this author and come across this one. I've loved my little Jessie Keane binge, it's cemented again my thoughts that this lady certainly can write a page turner. Annie Carter at her best, this book I have read in just over a 24hour period, not sleeping very well certainly had it's advantages for me. Some brilliant twist and turns in this book and a lot I really didn't see coming, I love when a book can surprise me and this one certainly did that. Personally I have to say, that to fully enjoy this book then the series needs reading in order. It really will help to have the back history of a lot of the characters. When Annie Carter receives news that her friend Dolly Farrell is dead, she heads back to London. What then unfolds is a roller coaster of a ride, heart pounding, nail biting read. I was hooked from the beginning and I know we say it a lot about good books, but I really couldn't put this down. There is an awful lot packed into these pages, and it was good to read it over a short time period so my little mind didn't get lost. Some of our favourite characters from this series really show their colours here. How or where Jessie Keane gets her story idea's from I don't know, I just hope they continue for a long time to come. Thrilled to have finally caught up, and absolutely loved this book. It's a big 5 stars from me.
I have read and loved all of the Annie Carter books but I have to say this was very poor in comparison to the others, I finished it and felt that the story should have ended in the last book, this just didn't meet the standards of all the previous books. For a start the characters seem very watered down, not the powerful personalities that have previously been written about. The story line seemed flimsy and I found it hard to stay interested when usually I can't put Jessie Keane books down until I have finished them! That being said, I would not let this stop me from buying her books in the future, she is a very talented writer and only human, we all have bad days! I'm looking forward to her next book, hoping that this is just a hiccup and she is back to her usual talented self next time.
I've read all the series. The only thing I have against it is that her 2nd husband does the same as her first and it turns out he's not actually dead. One I could get away with but two, sorry too far fetched for me and it put me off the rest of the book.
Another page turner from the amazing talent that is Jessie Keane . I read it in one sitting and even missed the xfactor because I couldn't put it down 😅😅 my only critisim is it was TOO SHORT LOL Annie carter at her best thank you Jessie for continuing to produce such amazing characters!!!!!!
I've read all of Jesse keanes books and have enjoyed every one , but the Annie Carter books have always been my favourites , read this in two evenings could not put it down , brilliant read !! Hope there's another book in this series !!!
Read all of jessie Keane`s books and this one was well below average. As a reader I'm expected to believe that a woman wouldn't recognize her husband was a actor before he was blown up? The bringing back people to life who are supposed to be dead is just getting boring now. Wouldn't buy another Annie Carter book as it's just dragging on and boring now.
So looking forward to reading this and wasn't dissapointed...I had a feeling by the title what it would be about, read everyone of these books and can't get enough of them, love Annie and max as characters and can't wait to read the next instalment, well done Jessie another blinding book!
Another great book by this talented author, it doesn't disappoint at any time. Annie Carter was determined to find out who killed her best mate at any cost. Another storyline ran parallel to this one but don't want to spoil it for the reader by giving anything away. I would recommend this book to anyone to read.
Absolutely loved the Annie Carter series and was sorry when I had read the last page, hope there is going to be another one. I have devoured all of Jessie Keane's books they have kept company many a sleepless night.
