Rarely do I find a book so engaging and mind expanding as this one. I love my sci-fi and am always on the look out for new authors and styles, and whilst the initial blurb of an archaeological dig had me a bit sceptical, I'm glad I gave it a go. This was a truly epic book, very well written and engaging. Well worth a 'look'
This is an really great story, the idea really grabbed me from the first look at the description. But it's not just the idea the writing is super, the story flows perfectly. The science is believable, and the descriptions of Mars really work well. Highly recommended, I have already bought all the rest of the series.
It's not often these days that I come across a good solid hard sci-fi read. This qualifies. Relate-able characters, science (but they don't make you do math ;), action and a world that is a few steps into a possible future. Politics and economics haven't changed much, but it still manages to be a little bit hopeful.
An enjoyable + Thought-provoking read. A book with Engineers, Pilots, and Scientists interacting. A bureaucrat who plans far and farther ahead. His security expert, using very subtle forethought. Set in wildly different ecozones, including the very dangerous zero gravity, zero air ptessure ecozones between planets, and moons. We Olde sciencefition readers get fun injokes as a bonus.
