Roman history finds another writer with a feel for reality
19 April 2016
I never thought anyone could ever emulate the writings of Colleen McCulloch and her seven volume series on the life of Julius Caesar, but Robert Harris has accomplished this feat with his biographies of Cicero and now this account of the Vesuvius eruption and the destruction of Pompeii.
To write a dialogue between known historical figures and have it sound perfectly real and normal is a very rare talent.
