Michael Hyatt is the best leader I know for helping busy people (all of us) get ahead and create margin. So that, we can focus on the things jay truly matter and live a fulfilling life. This isn’t just a business/productivity/leadership book... it’s a mental health book! Our world is heading into a tailspin. Free To Focus will help you take back control and empower you to live your best life.
Everyone on the planet deserves to read this book.
As a top fan of Michael Hyatt's books, courses and productivity tools, I have to say that this book may be his best yet. He has truly epitomised the concept of "achieving more by doing less" in a world where our attention is a commodity, something sought by everyone you currently have in your different life domains.
Free to Focus is not just a productivity system, it's a way of life. It's something everyone needs to pay heed to and begin to slowly but surely implement its concepts. It's not every day that someone comes and tells you what you need to be able to focus properly on what matters in your life and it's not every day that someone tells you that you need to CUT and ELIMINATE certain things in your life to be able to have more freedom. Time Management tools and techniques don't come close to the concepts taught in Michael's book which essentially teach you how to become a better all-round person and be in FLOW in your life eventually reaching inner peace and inner balance.
I've been using the Full Focus Planner since July 2017 and the planner is the tool that you use to help you implement the concepts taught inside of the Free to Focus book. Your business and your life will thank you when you introduce concepts that are now ingrained in me like:
The Weekly Review The Daily Big 3 The Ideal Week Mega Batching The Not-To-Do List The four different zones that our tasks fall into Deciding where to eliminate, automate, or delegate The importance of hiring the right people The importance of having emotional support
As a result of Michael's teachings inside the Free To Focus book I have made some major changes in my personal life first and foremost and my business life where I am learning how to achieve more by doing less. That concept alone is a HUGE paradigm shift because I always thought I had to keep doing more and more but I was wearing myself out and wearing my brain out and most of all not spending enough time with my family. Now I am working towards scaling my coaching business more purposefully and with intent, CHOOSING where I want my focus to be (working within my Desire Zone and not my Drudgery Zone where I was for the longest time).
Now I plan my week religiously every Sunday evening, I have a morning and evening ritual, I have a work startup and shutdown ritual and I LIVE by my Daily Goals working towards my Annual Goals that I fervently write over and over again every 3 months. What gets measured gets done, remember that folks and Michael has given us a FULL SYSTEM to measure our daily, weekly, monthly, quarterly actions to actually SEE where we are going and before all that we've written out the VISION we want to see ourselves in if we had total control of our time and an unlimited budget.
I am more respectful of my Weekends thanks to Michael's concepts taught in the book as well. The 7 Basic Practices that we must give time and attention to to be able to focus better: Sleep, Eat, Move, Connect, Play, Reflect and Unplug. These 7 practices allow you to REJUVENATE which is key to becoming more in flow and achieving more.... by doing less.
This book along with Best Year Ever and Living Forward I consider a MUST in any individual's library and they build upon each other. Read Living Forward to learn how to have the big vision for your entire life. Then read Best Year Ever to set your goals and to begin the process of having yearly goals and not just "resolutions" that are gone with the wind within 1 month of the year starting and then finally, the step-by-step actions to how to ACHIEVE your goals and being in flow in your day-to-day and the micro-commitments you need to set for yourself and the daily practices taught in the Free To Focus give you the HOW. You have no excuses after reading this book to not be more productive and achieving major milestones you couldn't before. Moreover, I love how the concepts in the book (in all of Michael's books in fact) are all backed by data and evidence so for the analytical thinkers you will feel satisfied!
Note: I received a complimentary copy of this book as part of a launch team. I was not paid for this review. I only endorse products and businesses that I believe in and use myself every single day.
