Chip begins his book with his personal story of overcoming a deeply disappointing blow as a young man. He’s got some funny stories too, some great advice and a super kind heart. It’s incredible how big his/their aspirations are for Magnolia in the decades to come. Something as simple as their restaurant has a deeper intention. I love their delicious goals of building empathy around dinner tables. It’s a very gracious, active and respectful approach. The book is inspiring because it’s about how they are working hard and accomplishing practical things year by year. I wish I could have read this book many years ago but I’m feeling happy to have read it now. To me it’s an antidote to criticism and discouragement. Loved it.
Capital Gaines is an open, honest and truly Chip Gaines experience. By sharing his wisdom and insight, gained by doing stupid stuff, Chip shines a powerful light to inspire and encourage each of us to learn, grow and expand into our unique brilliance. This is Chip's contribution to preparing us to accept the baton. Capital Gaines is a wonderful book and a fantastic read written by the character we fell in love with while watching Fixer Upper. Thank you, Chip.
