Very Disappointed! There is 6 textures, 2 are very similar (almost no difference), one is very distinctive, and the other three are just the same just differ in colour. We have another two books quite old (I think since 2013) and all 6 textures and colours were pretty different so we could tell between smooth, soft, bumpy etc. These new books (we have purchased two and other two were gifts) are really lacking in delivering the promised sensory satisfaction. Stay away from The Fairy one and the kitten. Very, very disappointed.
I love how my baby buries his face in the furry kitten. He loves soft things and treats this as he does his teddies! However, both he and I prefer ‘that’s not my monster’ as it’s visually more exciting than this, even for a house of cat lovers.
The first book I received had a damaged cover so I was sent a replacement. Have to say the quality of the textures in this book are quite poor. One page it meant to have bumpy paws but the texture seems to have worn away. The cover for fluffy ears doesn't appear it will last as you can see the board behind. We have a number of these books but this one seems to have been rushed.
We have quite a few of these That's Not My... books and this one was a bit disappointing.
The touchy-feely bits are all rather samey and some of them are the same texture as the actual page itself, i.e. Shiny. I can't see how that will stimulate a baby to look for the area of the page that's different. The fabric/textured panels all seem really small on this book too. They need to be bigger.
There are other ones in the range that are better. 3 stars.
Our daughter of 1 loves these books! We have quite the collection now so have a variety of animals, transportation or object for her to read though.
The wording is short enough for our bedtime routine for her not to be bored. We also ask her to point out the other things on the pages, such as flowers, bugs and of course the mouse! Always spot the mouse!!
Good quality, well made books with interesting textures for them to explore and have lasted plenty of knocks and handling!
I've bought this for my daughter for Christmas and I have to say it's not up to the usual standard that these books are. I'd have thought a kitten would be good inspiration to make the book good but the feely bits are boring and not fluffy?!
Okay so my baby is only 6 weeks old but I've made a point of reading to her and this book is great for the price. It's nice, clear and simple. Great for her age in my opinion as she is just now beginning to fixate and focus so it's a great introduction for her. I would definitely recommend as it's cheap and simple.
I read these with my four month old before bed, they help encourage arm movements as my son tried to reach out to touch them. They are brightly coloured and me and my son get to spend some lovely quiet, one on one time before bed time. Would recommend these for anyone with young babies and children
This was bought as one of the first books for my infant daughter. It has always been one of her favourites and even at just 6 months she is already interacting with the different textures. She has a number of other books in the "That's not my..." range and she loves them all.
