Perfect for what it is - but it wasn't what I was expecting. Based on the facebook posts, etc., I felt that it was advertised as a collection of all the photographs + captions featuring the children on the HONY feed. However - this really is a book intended for children. Probably my mistake, hence 4*.
I was so excited to get this for my little cousin because I'm a HUGE fan of HONY. The quality of the book itself is great and so are a lot of the photos.
If I'm being honest, I didn't love the text of the story. I'm not sure what I expected, but it didn't have the same depth that I'm used to from HONY posts on facebook and instagram. I didn't expect some profound philosophy, but it just left me feeling a little unsatisfied text-wise.
It's great for kids who are at the pre-reading age who like to make observations and point out things in books. It would be good for discussing diversity, colors (many of the photos have kids in very colorful outfits and costumes), and teaching new words by pointing and explaining.
I love what he's done with his book, I wasn't expecting that it would be a children's book, I thought it was a book of children's fashion, you know the "micro fashion" pics that he does. So it was not what I was looking for but, I wont leave a bad review because the product that I received would be great for kids I think. I'll probably give this to my niece on her birthday, was very cute!
This book is cute, concise, and lyrical. It is the perfect gift for a grandchild or kid younger than 10 years old. An adult or teenager, however, will not enjoy this book nearly as much. It is quite short with one small phrase on very page and the words don't necessarily relate to the pictures ---they are not what the kids say, but what branton or his publisher may have wanted to say.
The pictures are nice, but I think the writing could have been more interesting. I got this book thinking my 3 year old would love it, but we read it once, and she really hasn't shown much interest since--there's just not really a story to go with the pictures.
As always I ABSOLUTELY LOVE Brandon's pictures so I just had to buy this book. However I was a bit disappointed by its size. Humans of New York was really worth the buy because it had so many pages, I expected the same from Little Humans. I follow the facebook page so I know he has more than enough pictures to fill a thicker book. It probably says exactly how many pages there are, but i was just so happy to buy that I did not even look for that information. Would have bought the book nevertheless though because the pictures are - as ever- wonderful!!!!
