I m sorry - I thought this was a real book with little human stories - but it was simply some nice pics with one to 5 words - it is cute but it is not a story book as I expected - I would really like to return it and get my money back - the other two books are huge and heavy - I could not take them on a trip as I was planning if a return is possible i'd appreciate this. thanks
Disappointed - sent it back. I was hoping for HONY stories about little people for 6yr old granddaughter, as the famous FB page. This is basically a picture book for toddlers. Shame, HONY is missing a trick here.
I jumped on this as a massive fan of the HUMANS OF books (perhaps I should of done more research). I think this might be a child's book, an average of 4 words per page under a generic child photo that has no emotion behind it, I would definitely return if my post office wasn't so far away.
This book didn’t have any type of story line. While it may have captured many different shades of children it captures very little diversity in that it didn’t show religions. It showed children dressed up as heroes, clowns, or preppy outfits but showed zero diversity by way of religion or ethnicity. It was the complete opposite of his page, grouping all people together as children but at the same time not showing enough different types children in different settings. Utterly disappointing and grateful I didn’t show this to my children before I read it as they themselves weren’t represented in this book. This is not a book about inclusion.
My kids are interesting people and I love the H of NY FB page but apparently the photographer doesn't think children are interesting. This is pics only, I am really disappointed, it is like looking at a friend's newsfeed or photo album which you can do online for free. I was hoping my kids would learn about what NYC life was like for kids.
The thing I love the most about HoNY is the stories behind the pictures. This is particularly true regarding the children depicted. I really expected this book to show all the different realities and lives behind the children of NY (or the world), their various particular hopes and dreams, challenges, etc. This surprisingly small book is nothing but a few pictures of kids with some lame generalities about childhood. Very disappointed! This is in my mind a cynical attempt to raise money, rather than an honest attempt at a decent book.
