I hate it when stories are based around one long winded misunderstanding. Or in this case, a presumption. There were numerous opportunities to just spell out what actually happened, get it out in the open so the story can continue. But it didn't, so there was no story. No real character development and no chemistry. Therefore boring.
What an OTT melodrama this was! His sister was truly evil! It bordered on incest almost. She was obsessed with her brother who is the H. I swear he is probably one of the best heroes I've read about for awhile. I could tell the whole time that he loved her. It was so obvious. The heroine annoyed me mainly because she never brought up the elephant in the room, why she left?!? I would have hit him over the head with it every day. She simply needed to say I left because you took a mistress. But no that is too easy. She hemmed and hawed and I wanted to smack her. Luckily she just blurted it out in the end. And everything was cleared up in five minutes. It was that simple! And then she went to that evil woman's house and didn't tell anyone because she asked you not to. She was going to kill her I am sure. I was so glad the parrot squealed! By the way I loved the bird Benito! So funny. i loved how the H went there and overheard her ramblings. It was awesome! But I did wonder what happens to her husband Romano. I really felt for him. He was such a great guy. I really liked this story.
I liked the book, but I didn't love it. The dialogue between the main male and female leads is ok, the chemistry between them is good and the storyline is plausible. But the book left me thinking that I wish they would get to the point and stop dragging out the emotional scenes. It seems as if those scenes are just filler and the story really didn't need it. I recommend the book, but with reservations.
The story was good, but I got fed up with the heroine's continuous internal monologues about the same thing over and over, along with the repeated miscommunication long after it became obvious where the plot was heading. The hero was pretty darn awesome but I felt like the heroine didn't deserve him.
