I am an ordinary Australian mightily impressed by and appreciative of Mr Robertson’s intelligence, education and achievements. His book, other than an interesting background to his childhood, is not engrossing reading. It is primarily a record of his many activities; I would have preferred something more reflective which allowed for the role that others perhaps played in his life and achievements, and the lessons he learned along the way. I imagine there are many who will be saying after reading, “Hang on - it wasn’t all Robertson’s doing, you know!”. “Pompous”, is a word coming to mind frequently, making the book unnecessarily light-weight and to persist with.
