Short and sweet reflection of the beginnings of science fiction
1 October 2017
This story itself is a time capsule, sending the reader back to an age remembered only through history and literature. The culture and language of the time may be a little tedious for the first time reader today; and the story itself may offer little in the way of excitement or challenges to the imagination. Best suited for those wanting to look back in time, to the humble beginnings of science fiction and as a benchmark of how far we've come; or how far we have slipped so far. The time machine gives us (as a lot of writing of that time does), an enterprising tale on one hand, and a bitter-sweet dose of self-reflection in the other.
